In the autumn of 2014, Heritage Education carried out three small-scale excavation projects in school grounds at Birkenshaw, Hanging Heaton and East Morton (all in West Yorkshire, UK). Finds from the three sites were all relatively modern and no archaeological features were uncovered.

Despite the increasingly bad weather over October and November, all the children enjoyed themselves immensely and no-one asked to go inside, once again demonstrating the power of archaeology to motivate children at KS2.
